It will not block beams like Zarya’s primary fire or Moira’s ultimate (Coalescence). D.Va can use this ability to protect her teammates by “eating” shots and important abilities. Defense Matrix is her alternate fire and she can use it while boosting or using her Micro Missiles. It will recharge when D.Va isn’t using it.
I’d prefer it to simply go back to 15 meter length again with the original visual and nothing more. If that simply isn’t in the cards though, having DM increase Dva’s fire rate after deleting a certain amount of damage would be a great new change to the ability. “Time to raise my APM” would actually mean something.
D.va can’t defense matrix Ramattra’s Nemesis form Pummel. Further, it’s not wise to even do this as the damage is severly mitigated by D.va’s armor. 60 x 30% is 42; damage per second is reduced to 70; D.va’s damage per second is over 150; mitigated by armor it is 102. D.va still wins with Missiles and Boosters in combination.
The charge is also tricky. You go too hard and you get shredded and die. You can either use it to flank, to kill off low health targets, to escape or to make surprise ultimates. You can also use abilities while using it. The charge also pushes enemies back and you can charge into them while shooting for unavoidable dmg.

WePK9z. Headshot (or critical hit) is a property most - but not all - weapons and some abilities have that causes them to deal critical damage upon hitting an opponent's head hitbox. Melee and beam weapons are usually incapable of dealing headshots. Generally, a headshot gains a 2.0x damage modifier, meaning that they deal double the damage of a bodyshot (for example, Cassidy's Peacekeeper deals 70
In other words if D.Va has a point blank range of 1m against a character, aka the farthest distance her pellets will all guaranteed land, at 2m she does 1/4 damage. So against this character her non-headshot 168dps drops to an average 42dps at 2m, 19dps at 3m, 11dps at 4m, etc. Really explains why small and medium size characters (Looking at
Sometimes they get booped too far and you don't actually hit them with a melee, or they're a bigger target like winston/hog which you'd actually do a lot more damage with the left click than the melee, generally you only do melee on squishier targets like tracer and if preferable if you boop them into a wall so they don't get pushed too far from your melee.
This also helped me simply just understand the balance and choice among those from a pro level in choosing just constantly the highest burst dps heroes essentially. erebuswolf • 8 yr. ago. I believe Mercy is a flat 1.5X damage on all damage output. I have a note on Mercy's ability for that.
On some maps some teams will play rein brawl with: Rein-D.va/Sigma-Lucio-Bap-Mei-Sym. Or a poke comp with. Rein/Orisa-D.va-Brig-Bap-McCree-Torb. Brawl is played based on map really. If the rein can get hammer swings, he just gets too much value to not pick along with his super sheild.
